Picture of the Week.

You may have noticed that today’s picture of the week is not something I’ve captured on my morning walks among the abundance of scenes that Mother Nature has to offer. However, what pictures I have shared this last year, I wouldn’t have been able to if I hadn’t walked an hour or two each day. Thus, the need for new walking shoes!

Those of you who are following me know that in this phase of my life’s journey, I’m a published author. Back to the picture. In my first book, “Empower Your Golden Years,” and researched the benefits of walking, and one very important aspect of walking is the shoes you wear. What I learned and wrote in the book was that you should change your shoes every 200 to 250 miles. I have since read that, depending on the quality of the shoes, you could get up to 350 miles.

Well, I didn’t take my own advice and probably should have. The shoes on the right have 529 miles on them. Still comfortable but not advised! Looking back over my walking journal, my previous pair had almost the same mileage, 524 miles. The shoes on the left are my third pair of shoes this calendar year. I think one of my New Year's resolutions should be getting new walking shoes about every 300 miles.

 My goal for this year is to walk 1200 miles. To date, after today’s walk on Monday, 11/24/25, I’ve completed 1091 miles, 5.5 miles in the new shoes. I should be able to do it! I’ll keep you posted!
